The Internal Audit Department offers an internship to juniors in the School of Business entering their senior year at Rutgers University. We provide an opportunity to sample a career in the public accounting and internal audit professions. The internship lasts one year, extending from June of the student's junior year through May of their senior year.
Experience auditing first hand...
You will be exposed to both internal and external auditing. During the summer, your work resembles the financial audit responsibilities of a first year auditor in one of the major public accounting firms. The intern's main assignment during the summer is assisting the public accounting firm, KPMG LLP, during its annual examination of the University's financial statements and other financial information. During the academic year, you will change your focus to Internal Audit's operational and consultative reviews, as well as special projects.
A diversified experience...
The internship presents students with the opportunity to gain experience in the following areas:
- Financial audits
- Operational audits
- Information Technology audits
- Compliance reviews
- Risk assessments
- Consultative engagements
- KPMG assistance
- NCAA agreed-upon procedures
Develop professional skills...
You will have a chance to work
with a group of certified professionals having diverse backgrounds, knowledge,
and experience. Some started their careers with major public accounting firms
and then moved on to the private sector, others have had long careers in universities,
smaller firms, and private companies. Through interaction and experience you
will learn interpersonal skills, writing skills and work habits that will assist
you in your preparation for a professional career. We have a long history of
helping students get started in their careers. See our
